Came with the wife and friends to see you in Ely last night and thought you were greatttt I have been following a certain Norfolk band since the early 60's that are still going and you certainly knock them into the proverbial cocked hat, keep going boys and hope to see you all again very soon. Ron Morley. Subject: Feedback from Seacroft gig Hi guys with thanks - keep up the good work Linda & Steve Fanner. CHICHESTER.
Mark and jean Wheeler below is a write-up we got from the Painton rock'n'roll weekender Devon April 2009 courtessy of MAGGY SAMFORD (maggies blue suede news)Thanks maggie. Wild Pete was back on the decks as THE ROCK ISLAND REBELS set up.A four piece band from Norfolk with front man Mark on lead vocals/rhythm guitar,Chuck on lead guitar/vocal harmonies,Dale on bass guitar/vocal harmonies and Rod on drums/vocal harmonies. I sensed an extra special quality as soon as they started.Plenty of well performed Rock'n'Roll, kicking off with 'Move It','Rock A Hula Baby' and Rip it up'. Alively 'At The Hop' before the band really showed what they were made of.A beautiful 'I Wonder Why' with pitch perfect harmonies as we sat back and just listened.A few strolls later which included a very sensual 'Ain't That Lovin You Baby' with 'Marie Marie' completing an excellant performance. With Mark's fabulous voice, this band can't go wrong!. First time seen by most of us but hopefully they will return soon. BREAST CANCER CARE WWW.BREASTCANCERCARE.ORG.UK Dear Mark. Hi Mark, thought I would send you some more feedback before the page fills up. We had a great night at Ely last Saturday the band sounded excellent!! " When we saw The Rock Island Rebels over ten years ago we were hooked and have followed them eversince. They are one of the most authentic 50's/60's Rock'n'Roll bands, and Marks' powerful voice combined with Chucks' fantastic lead guitar never fail to please. It has been a privelage to get to know them all and listen to them over the years! Keep on rockin' boys..... see you in Evian. Christine & Mike I WOULD JUST LIKE TO THANKYOU FOR HELPING MY PARTY BE THE SUCCESS THAT IT WAS. ON THE NIGHT YOU WERE PROMPT AND EFFICIENT IN SETTING UP AND TAKING DOWN. BEST OF ALL HOWEVER WAS THE QUALITY OF YOU MUSIC,YOU TOOK THE PLACE BY STORM,SO MANY OF MY GUEST'S HAVE COMMENTED ON HOW GOOD YOU WERE.THE MUSIC WAS RIGHT, THE VOLUME WAS RIGHT.A TRULY PROFFESSIONAL GROUP.THANKYOU. GEORGE HETHERINGTON
Subject: SEACROFT ,HEMSBY. We thought you guys we the best band of the weekend! We knew that The Jets,Rockin The Joint,Phil Haley and the King Catswould be excellent as always but we'd never heard you and we and we were completely bowled over . My brother and his wife are big fans of The firebirds and they rated youin the same top class. Needless to say,we'll be adding feedback via your site as well as writing to the R'N'R mags. We'll also recommend you to ourlocal clubs (Thorngate,Hamble and Wickham all in Hampshire plusThe Winning Post at Twickenham,Middlesex) and to Wild Wolfie Smith who gets invovled in many weekenders. looking at your website you current set list is very impressive. We'll be buying one of your C.D's when they are available. Nice to meet yoo All the best Linda and Steve (Wagtails Dancewear)
Thanks guys for a brilliant night on saturday 27th june 2009 at Ely City Golf Club. We felt like teenagers again jiving to music from the greatest era of popular music reproduced by your superb musicianship, lead vocals and harmonies were excellent. The dance floor reminded us of the late fifties / early sixties saturday night "hops". I hope it won't be too long before we catch up with you again.yours trully Barara and Dave (Tiger) Woods
Dear Mark and The Rock Island Rebels. I would like to say a big thankyou for organising the event and raising £300.00 for my trust with the raffle from New Years Eve 2009. I am finally convinced that
I'm not alone in Suffolk in my life long addiction to rock
'n' roll !!
Saw you play at Exning
Road club in Newmarket a little while ago and the better half
and I really enjoyed the gig. You did say then that that you would
be setting up a website - congratulations, it looks really good.
Really looking forward
to seeing you all again soon.
Regards,
Steve C. Hi mark,i would just like to thank you and the boy's for making our first rock'n'roll all-dayer the success that it truly was,we have had so many comment's on the way you performed and the quality of your music The Rock Island Rebel's are truly the band to have. all the best Hiam's sport's and social club
below is a write-up we got from the Hemsby rock'n'roll weekender march2009 courtessy of MAGGY SAMFORD (maggies blue suede news)Thanks maggie. We've just returned from fabulous weekend at Seacroft ,Hemsby-organised byStrolling Steve of Allways Music,we enjoyed it so much that we want to spread the word. When there is so much doom and gloom around it was a real pleasure to be part of a brilliant 'house party' type atmosphere where ev'ry one was smiling. Seacroft dispelled our thoughts about holiday camps as we enjoyed clean, spacious, warm chalets. As for the food it was faultless. The whole experience was a lot nicer than some of the hotels we've stayed in for rock'n'roll weekenders The entertainment was top notch. The Jets,Rockin The Joint,The KIng Cats and Phil Haley & his Comments lived up to their usual high standard. We had'nt seen Juke Joint Jump before ,if its your style of music they deliver it well. For us the WOW factor came from THE ROCK ISLAND REBELS who played 2 sets and packed the dance floor. This talented four piece band gave a stunning performance of ev'ry thing from Elvis toThe Shadows -something for ev'ry one. It was a 4 hour drive but well worth it-looking forward to ther next one. New Years Eve @ Southery Village Hall 2009 Dear Mark,Chuck,Dale and Rod. Thank you for a wonderful night, you played well.Shirley,Linda and i enjoyed it very much with all the other peole who it too. A good amount of money raised for two deserving charities. Wishing you all the very best for 2010. Regards Martin Stevens
